Today we have 30 volunteers donating their time and items to Operation Support Our Troops Illinois located in Lisle. We will be helping put together care packages to be sent over seas to our active duty troops. Thanks in advance for all of our members. I will post pictures after the event. Here is their website if you want to donate to them. They said donation have been low this year so lets try to help out. http://www.osotamerica.org/
We volunteered for one of the physical work days to help clear brush for the sensory gardens groundbreaking. The professionals handled the chain saws and the volunteers pulled the cut up trees to the wood chipper. It was a rough day but it felt like we made a difference. If you want to see & read more about the DuPage Sensory Garden click here.
We also had 12 people volunteer to help the Lisle Chamber of Commerces first Ale Fest. Our volunteers helped pour beers for all the vendors tents. It was fun and we were able to try out some new brews.
Thanks to everyone that volunteered! We appreciate your support.
Thanks to all the people that volunteered at the Eyes to the Skies festival on behalf of the Kiwanis Club of Lisle. It was a great time and hope you had fun too. We look forward to next year. If you have any photos you took while you were volunteering please let me know. Email me here.
Thanks to all of our scholarship recipients & their families for coming to our awards night. The winners were Rachel Birkley, Josh Haseltine and Christine Young. It was a pleasure meeting your parents and getting to know the future leaders of our community. Good luck in school this fall! Also thanks to the Lisle Hilton for hosting our event. Check out the gallery here.
This past Saturday a few of our members were at the Lisle French Market. We were able to meet with some of our community members and explain our role as a service organization within Lisle. We will be there again on August 3rd & October 12th. Next time we will bring out our popcorn machine…
We need to recruit volunteers for the Lisle Eyes to the Skies Festival. If you are interested in volunteering contact Gary at email@example.com

Update 04-06-2013: We completed our Kiwanis 1-Day project on Connelly Park. Check out the new photos here.
Each year, Kiwanis clubs around the world join in a day of service. In 2013, Kiwanis One Day is
April 6. It’s a global effort, but it’s made of personal commitments.
After all, Kiwanis One Day consists of the involvement of Kiwanis club members around the world. It begins with our club’s participation. It extends to the impact you have on your community. And it results in an international spirit of service that inspires people worldwide.
Our project this year will be to do a clean-up at Connelly Park in Lisle. The Lisle Park District does a great job maintaining the park year round. We offer to help with any projects that aren’t in the weekly maintenance plans. This year we will be adding mulch to all the planting beds or areas around the base of the trees and any other jobs they have for us. Let us know if you want to help by using the comments below.
Thanks to everyone that joined us for the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast on March 9th, 2013. We had a great time and served a lot of pancakes. We appreciate the support you all provide for our programs. Here is a list of all of the sponsors that were on this years place-mat.
