Pancake Day 2014

Pancake Day is this Saturday! This year we will have the breakfast on Saturday April 12th 2014. It will be from 7am – 11am at 5207 Center Avenue, Lisle Junior High School. I contacted the Lisle Junior High Jazz Band early this year so they will provide some entertainment around 9/9:30am and play for a ½ hour. As usual we will have plenty of pancakes and sausage so come hungry. We will have open gym and I will try to get the bean bag games for the little ones. It means a lot that you make the effort to come out and support the clubs efforts. I hope to see you then and look forward to catching up.

If you are attending the Kiwanis Pancake breakfast and looking to save some cash download the coloring pages here.  Have your children color one of the pages, bring it to the breakfast and that will act as their ticket and eat for free!

If you are interested I have an invite on Facebook.  Please join and invite anyone that you know lives near Lisle and will be hungry on April 12th!  Thanks!

2013 Holiday Party

Last weekend we had our annual Children’s Christmas Party at the Lisle Junior High School.  We had a great turnout of 148 kids and their families.  We had a balloon artist, a magician, open gym, tattoos and coloring stations through out the cafeteria.

We served pizza and cookies to everyone that attended.  We had a lot of help from local businesses listed below.  Without their help, we would have a hard time putting this together.  Please support their business like they support our service programs.

Also a big thanks to Best Toys Inc located in Lisle for supplementing our gifts to the kids.  They provided many of the board games and toys that helped make the kids very happy after talking to Santa.

Thanks to all the Key Clubbers and Kiwanis members that helped out.

The biggest thanks goes to Diane Sherman.  She does all the shopping over the year and organizing of Santa’s helpers to give the kids what they want.  Thanks to everyone.   I have posted the pics from the event here.  Please send me any pictures you have from the event.  We hope you have a great holiday season and enjoy your family and friends.  See you next year.

We also had 12 people volunteer to help the Lisle Chamber of Commerces first Ale Fest.  Our volunteers helped pour beers for all the vendors tents.  It was fun and we were able to try out some new brews.

Kiwanis 1-Day Project

Update 04-06-2013: We completed our Kiwanis 1-Day project on Connelly Park.  Check out the new photos here.

Each year, Kiwanis clubs around the world join in a day of service. In 2013, Kiwanis One Day is
April 6.
It’s a global effort, but it’s made of personal commitments.

After all, Kiwanis One Day consists of the involvement of Kiwanis club members around the world. It begins with our club’s participation. It extends to the impact you have on your community. And it results in an international spirit of service that inspires people worldwide.

Our project this year will be to do a clean-up at Connelly Park in Lisle.  The Lisle Park District does a great job maintaining the park year round.  We offer to help with any projects that aren’t in the weekly maintenance plans.  This year we will be adding mulch to all the planting beds or areas around the base of the trees and any other jobs they have for us.  Let us know if you want to help by using the comments below.
